Our History
Family Support Organization of Bergen County is an organization “for families by families.” Our founding Board of Trustees, all of whom are parents or caregivers of children with emotional and/or behavioral challenges, responded to the need for a family-driven organization by incorporating as a not for profit in 2001. In May, 2002 we opened our doors with the goal of spearheading a family-friendly environment for families to come together for mutual support, education and sharing.
Because we are for families, by families, we offer the unique perspective gained from experiences with various systems and providers. As part of the family movement, we aim to maximize the potential of all involved in providing services to children and families. Primary to FSOBC philosophy is the recognition of the worth, knowledge, and dignity of all families and caregivers.
